...the current global crisis is a positive phenomenon as it is an inescapable outcome of a system built upon false laws and principles of Usury and Humanism. This crisis was the biggest crisis in the history of Capitalism signaling its final end and the Muslims should take this opportunity to establish the Islamic model which successfully existed from the time of the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) up until the destruction of Ottoman Caliphate at the turn of the 20th century - Muamalah!
This crisis is nothing but Allah’s war against Riba, therefore we’ll see during this crisis who is who in Islam: the Mukminun will rejoice at this crisis and will come out united and determined, the Munafikun will pretend nothing is happening and continue business as usual!
Allah the Magnificent and the Only Truth, all praise only exists for Him alone!

UIA Dinar Efforts

First Handbill
M, S and I are currently engaged in a two-pronged effort in introducing the Dinar system in UIA.On one hand, we're trying to implement the payment system in the uni.
On the other, we're trying to get the crowds to realize what paper money on the whole is doing to the world.
We came up with the following poster and handbills.
The posters are now pasted around the campus, and the handbills are being spread around.
What we learned while handing out the handbills is that people are still oblivion to the situation we have at hand.
The effect of paper money, regardless of the currency!
InsyAllah, we shall be making more of these posters and handouts.
The information are kept concise, while we try to drive home the point.
We hope the pictures do more of the talking for us, insyAllah.

If

If you can keep your head,
When all about you,
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you.
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too.
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise.
If you can dream - and not make dreams your master,
If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim,
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster,
And treat those two impostors just the same.
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken,
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build them up with worn-out tools.
If you can make one heap of all your winnings,
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings,
And never breathe a word about your loss.
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew,
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you,
Except the Will which says to them: 'Hold on!'
If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
' Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch,
if neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much.
If you can fill the unforgiving minute,
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!

Why Dinar?
Bismillahirrahmannirrahim.
For the believers, the Dinar and Dirham is Allah's way. An Islamic way.
It is Islam's currency.
Its the money used in Islam.
And from it, stems an economic system that is Islamic
(Mind you, I did not say "Islamic Banking")
And, because we choose to be different from the non-believers, its good enough a reason to embrace the matter.
Whether we understand not the significance.
Because its what Allah wants, that's what I'd do.
Though, if one seek for the significance of the Dinar, one shall find it with His mercy.
Because unlike most things 20th century, Islam rides not on mankind.
Therefore, when one searches for the siginificance, one shall find it.
No fraudulence in Islam.
No theological make-ups, only truth.
Upon which, bowing down is victory!
And bowing down elevates.
InsyAllah.
Dinar are gold coins, and Dirham are silver coins.
Gold and silver are precious metals, which derives its value from its rarity and durability.
And so its value is locked, to the total amount of gold to ever exist in the world.
(I read that one could fit all the gold ever found on earth into a cube 20 meters on a side!)
Not a rare concept.
If you were to step back in time, there existed a period where trades could only be made when one has gold!
As Mr K was telling me lastnite, the Opium trade started when british refused to pay for Tea with gold, and so they had to trade with something the chinese wanted - Opium.
Things with value were traded with gold.
And so the value of gold is indisputable.
It is only in this century that people trade gold for printed paper.
In the past, this would have been preposterous!
One questions, "what's the difference then, if the printed papers are 'as good as gold'?"
The difference is that, the value of the paper, be it 'as good as gold', lies in the hand of the governing men.
Today, they claim its 'as good as gold', but when need be, governing men could manipulate it to what he wants the value to be.
And so, its bound to manipulation.
Bound to men-made theorems, which in turn, are bound to men's fallibilites.
And God knows how many!
The significance of using gold as money is that, merchandise exchanged in a trade don't loose its value.
The value of the sold item and the item bought, both retains its value, even while it changes form and hand.
For example;
If you were to buy a plate of rice for half a Dirham, you'd go home with a full stomach (which is value), and the seller goes home half-a-Dirham richer, with no means for manipulation since the value of the Dirham lies within the Dirham itself, it being a precious metal!
The seller finds that, his half-a-Dirham could still buy him a plate of rice even in 20 years time.
This is as opposed to promissory notes (which is what fiat or paper money is, in essence!)
Yesterday, 3 blue Malaysian notes promise its owner 2 plates of rice.
Today, you need a red Malaysian note for the same thing.
Cos its only a PROMISE!
Which is usually entailed by a generic question: "Who's promise?"
And so, that is part 1 of "Why Dinar?"
Let me end the entry by an authentic Hadith from The Musnad of Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal:
Abu Bakr ibn Abi Maryam reported that he heard the Messenger of Allah s.a.w, say:
"A time is certainly coming over mankind in which there will be nothing [left] which will be of use save a dinar and a dirham."
May Allah give us the strength.
Ameen.

A Beautiful Quote
Found this to be shared, about checking oneself of a 'mustard seed' of pride:
"True devotion is to loose the faculty of being conscious of one's devotion; for one who identifies devotion in his devotion, is a person whose devotion is in need of a devotion!"
Read it carefully and you'd find it addressing a very narrow little spot in your heart, just when you thought you've perfected it and rid it off vanity, vanity seeps in!
May Allah protect us from this insidious evil, ameen.

Sehr besetzt!
Sehr besetzt = very busy...auf Deutsch...
For the past few weeks that has been the title of my everyday!
Sehr besetzt.
Wake up in the morning, get dressed, and in a few minutes, God knows where I'd be?
Been juggling between a few things; dad's stuffs, student's stuffs and last...lasttt...mine!!
Days usually ends in the wee hours of morning..an average of 3am.
Tho, last week, we didn't get not a wink of sleep, before having to put up with crowds at Putrajaya!
What do I do, you ask?
Sometimes I think about what to call myself too.
How do I introduce myself, without losing context of what I do.
For the time being, let's just call me 'Daddy's Girl' ;)
Quite an apt description I reckon, in both the fortunate and not-so-fortunate ways.
No offense Daddy ;) Ich sehr liebe dich.
Daddy's girl's...girls' labour of love!(loads of credits, more than mine, goes to my sister)
That's what our life has been about.
I thank Allah for the chance :)
The sweet perspiration...indeed...its a labour of love!!
Usually, I dare not describe my days, how it begins and how it ends.
Firstly, people have a problem understanding what I do, what I have to do, and why?
Its deep.
And sharing makes it lame.
Guess its between Allah and me :)
I pray He accepts it from me, and count it as among good-deeds.
InsyAllah :)
Secondly, I'm immediately labeled intimidating and materialistic.
Two of the most foreign things about me if you ask those who really knows me.
Due to that, I'd usually camouflage my tight schedule with gentle scoffs of
"Owwh, you knowww me ;) "
A lame line that doesn't get anywhere, but satisfies everyone.
One moment during the week that's worthy of sharing happened last Tuesday (6/10/09).
At this point, we haven't slept well for almost 3 days.
Muna didn't get a wink, I did a few short naps here and there.
We were rushing to Putrajaya that Tuesday morning and due to the massive jam, I procrastinated filling gas in the car.
Half way through the journey, the alert came on.
"No more mileage for whatever left in my tank"
Yikes!!
I needed to just go, can't stop cos we had to be there ASAP.
Alhamdulillah, we got there on time, and did what we had to.
Still, there was no petrol in the car since I didn't have time to stop.
And so, we headed home with an empty tank.
A petrol station is nowhere in sight!
The one I know was way in Serdang, a good 15-20km from where we were.
But do I have a choice? No!! lol
And so I drove my empty vessel and I prayed to Him.
Please don't let the car stop Ya Allah, I'm dead tired, and Muna's fast asleep.
I could vividly picture what it'd be like.
The scorching sun, so unforgiving.
Ya-Rabb, help me out of this!!
We still had a long way to go before a petrol station.
I prayed anxiously in a battle of fear and hope.
Fear originating from thoughts like:
"Oh yikes, I procrastinated the Subuh prayer and this is me paying for it!!"
And hope origintaing from thoughts that are too lame to mention ;)
And so, the journey was peppered with these, as beads of sweat stroll down from my forehead (AC had to be switched off duhh!)
Finally, we arrived at a petrol pump!!
Alhamdulillaaahhhh!!! I was overjoyed!!
Got out of the car, bought cool, sweet, yummy Cincaus.
Some snacks!
And filled my tank!
All in an air-conditioned shop.
Bliss!!
The beads of sweat caved in and dried up, its room no longer exist as the AC blows cool wind in my face :D
Jumped aboard the-now-full vessel, and headed for home, sipping on my cool Cincau while the sun looks down in envy!
The sky was the brightest of blue.
I felt on top of the world that short moment, as if nothing could taint my day!!
:D
The job was done, the vessel is full, and I have a cool-sweet Cincau in my hand.
To add to the celebration, I put on the radio...and started singing to the tracks.
Swinging my head, tapping my fingers...really enjoying myself.
All of a sudden, the last 15 minutes came to mind.
And I felt a pang of guilt.
I evaluated objectively, what has changed in the last 15 minutes?
Quite frankly, nothing much. Except, I was more comfortable now.
With the AC and the cool drink, and no worries about the tank.
I've forgotten entirely about Him!
That the comfort was His mercy.
I learned that I remembered Him better in times of need, so I guess, He made me need Him as a mercy for me, so that I remember Him often.
Because, when I remember Him, He remembers me in return :)
InsyAllah.
And so, don't fret at troubled times.
In fact, its a mercy!
An idea not too foreign, since the prophet s.a.w faced lots of troubled times, upon which he was able to invoke his Lord.
Troubled times therefore equals chances for you be invoking Him.
Peace be upon us all.

Hal jazaa ul ihsan ni illal ihsan?
Allah said in Quran 55:60:
"Hal jazaa ul ihsan ni illal ihsan?"
"Is there any reward for good, other than good?"
And, verses preceding 60 being an interweaving of His question about, "which of His mercy do we deny?" (Fabi ayyi alaa irabbikuma tukazziban?)
And therefore, 60 answers its own question!
That, for every good, the reward could only be another good, an equivocal good!
For with Allah, equations are linear.
Many a time in my life, I question why are things so hard?
But my good dear friends (may Allah bless you, M & Aalya) pointed an almost startling observation, something which was easy to overlook.
That the Prophet s.a.w was His most beloved servant, a man guaranteed of His garden, and yet the most unfortunate man when measured by the hands of us mortals.
His life was a rendition of hardship, far from ease.
But throughout, he remain steadfast to his role, never transgressing his boundaries.
A man of honor!
And just maybe...
55:60 is trying to wean men to do good despite any opposites being done unto him.
Despite hardships and non-linearities!
To continue doing good.
For its indisputable, that for every good, there will be good.
Just a question of time, upon which He said:
"Walal aakhiratu khairulla ka minal ulaa"
"The end is surely better than the beginning!"
May He accept our sincere deeds, as deeds with equivocal rewards.
From Him alone.
Ameen.

Thot of the day
Found this, written by Torben Iversen in the Introduction to Capitalism and Democracy:
"...how it is possible to combine capitalism with democracy?
Capitalism produces stark inequalities in the distribution of property and income,
while democracy divides power in a manner that is in principle egalitarian (one person,
one vote). So why don’t the poor soak the rich? And if they do, how can capitalism be
a viable as an economic system?..."

Given the right to vote...
Had an interesting breakfast yesterday.
The topic was Obama.
And Hillary.
Interestingly my breakfast-mate was a pure Hillary supporter!!
She then popped a question to me.
Which seemed naive and simple.
She said:
"Who would you have voted for Mimi?"
I said:
"First, I don't think I'm politically sound, enough to be voting"
She insists that I had the rights to choose.
So okay...
Okay okay...
If you insists
"Given the rights to vote, I'd vote for the cutest Mr President ;) and so thank God for Brad Pitt coming into the political arena!!"
And so, that's democracy for you!!
Utter absurdity...
